Universal Service Fund

The Federal Communications Commission defines the Universal Service Fund as an act to promote the availability of quality services at just, reasonable, and affordable rates. Along with further advancing technology enhancement in low income, rural, insular, and high cost areas at rates that are reasonably comparable to those charged in urban areas.

Until just recently (Q3 2006) VoIP Service has always been considered except from contributing to the USF. However times are changing. The FCC has started investigating how to tax VoIP Services to fairly contribute to the USF.

This means that NuFone will eventually have to pass this tax onto you, when mandated by an FCC order.
